And Our Children Are Lost. There is Still Time, We Have Work to Do

David and Samuel appointed 212 Levites as gatekeepers and the 4 most trusted were given keys to the rooms of the treasury.  These keys were known as the “Keys of David”.

In the days of Isaiah,  he prophesied about the Messiah …..who was to come:

He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation

and wisdom and knowledge;  the fear of the?Lord?is the key to this treasure.

When Simon Peter declared that Jesus was the Messiah , Jesus gave these keys to the church:

Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.?And I tell you that you are Peter,? and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades?will not overcome it.?I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be?bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be??loosed in heaven.

The keys of David are a “type and shadow “ for the Holy Spirit….the key to all the treasures in the kingdom of heaven.   Humility and the “Fear of the Lord” turns the key to the doors of these treasures…..salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.

The keys  were given to the church for  “times” such as ours.

It is important that we  understand what fear of the Lord means.  That phrase in Hebrew is yirah which also means reverential awe…..like when the people fell prostrate after Elijah called down fire….or in the days of Nehemiah when Ezra read the “Law” to the people and they bowed down and wept.  Today we have witnessed the same thing with the revival at Asbury  as the people knelt before the Lord and wept.  The inscription over their altar is “Holiness Unto The Lord.”  There was a similar revival at Asbury in 1970 when my friend gave her life to the Lord….she was restored, given purpose and went to China for the next 40 years.

Reverential awe of the Lord causes us to live with integrity and obedience to God.  It is a positive relationship and not a fearful one.  Because God is ever present in our lives, we realize the importance of living according to his will, and we are in his care ………….forever.

PRAYER FOCUS:    Reverential Awe …..Holiness Unto The Lord

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:   We have a part to play.  In the Bible, spirit filled/anointed people asked God to change

their world…….God revealed the door, showed them what to do, and then they acted.  They were the “gatekeepers” whom God trusted.
